Do you know someone who would love to help our students improve their reading or math skills?

We are excited to announce Prairie Seeds Academy has been awarded the support of Minnesota Reading Corps and/or Minnesota Math Corps tutors for the 2017-18 school year. We need your help to recruit potential candidates for this opportunity! Our goal is to fill our tutor position(s) before we break for summer to ensure they are in place at the start of the upcoming year.

This tutor is not a replacement for teachers, but is a specially trained AmeriCorps member who will work with students needing a boost to catch up to grade level in reading and math. Students served by this evidence-based program experience strong growth – in their test scores, other school work, and confidence. Last year, Reading Corps and Math Corps served more than 30,000 Minnesota students in schools throughout the state.

Tutors come from many backgrounds and include recent high school and college grads, career changers, stay-at-home parents/grandparents, and retirees. They receive extensive training, and coaching support. In return for their service, tutors earn a living allowance, education award, federal student loan forbearance, and other benefits.

If you or someone you know might enjoy making a difference in the lives of students, learn how to get involved at www.readingandmath.net. Positions start in August for the 2017-18 school year.
